If you have not provided an RSVP already, or you have not received an acknowledgement from me to your RSVP, this is the LAST CALL for the MOAA April meeting.

The April 2025 Kings Bay MOAA Chapter meeting will be on Tuesday, 15 April at The Club at Osprey Cove. The social hour will start at 5:30 followed by the meeting and dinner at 6:30.

The menu for this meeting is your choice of Herb Roasted Pork Loin with Mustard Sauce, Steamed White Rice, and Vegetable Medley, or Roasted Chicken Thighs with creamy Spinach and Shallots, and White Rice. Both come with a side salad, roll and Raspberry Tiramisu for dessert.

The cost of the meal is $30 per person. Payment can be made at the door with credit card, cash or check. Dues may also be paid at the door.

 The meeting speakers will be Chuck White and Bill Carreira from the Camden County Emergency Management Ops Center.   Their bios are below.

Chuck White is the County’s Emergency Management Agency (EMA) Director and is responsible for all hazards, planning, preparedness, response, and recovery for the Camden County Board of Commissioners. He came to work for Camden County shortly before Hurricane Irma in 2017. Chuck retired from the United States Navy as a Senior Chief, Master-at-Arms, having served 22 years with sea, shore and overseas assignments, including a five-year assignment with the Naval Criminal Investigative Service. He is a graduate of the 193rd session of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s National Academy and received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of the State of New York, Excelsior College. Chuck is a certified emergency manager at the advanced level, with significant training and experience in the National Incident Management System (NIMS). Chuck served in a variety of roles including public and private, teaching and consulting in emergency management, counter-terrorism and counter-drug in Southwest Asia, South/Central America, and the Caribbean before taking his current position at the Camden County EMA. He has more than 34 years of experience in law enforcement, security, safety, and emergency management.

Bill Carreira is from the town of Tiverton, Rhode Island.  He is a retired US Navy Senior Chief Submarines 22 years and the former IT Director for the City of Kingsland 20 years. Bill and his wife Lynn transferred to Camden County in 1990 with the US Navy and was a member of the commissioning crew USS Maryland.

Bill worked at Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay from 1990 until 2002 and included tours on the USS Maryland, Trident Refit Facility and the USS Rhode Island which is his retirement boat. During the time in the Navy he also became GA State Certified Firefighter/ Paramedic with the City of Kingsland Fire Rescue and is currently the Deputy Fire Chief.

Bill has been married to his wife Lynn for over 36 years.  They have two grown daughters Deanna and Kira. In his spare time he enjoys shooting, exercise and amateur radio and is an active member of the Amatuer Radio Emergecy Services. He is also a Volunteer Examiner for the FCC and and the current President of the St Marys Submarine Museum Board of Directors. Bill is also active in a number of local Veterans Groups.
