Member Stories

The "Member Stories" featured on the home page are designed to engage visitors with human interest stories, rather than to just recite what the Georgia Council is and does.  That information is available on the "About Us" page.

What we need are real stories  about real people  who have served our Country with honor and distinction.

If you have a relative (living or dead) with a compelling military story, we would very much appreciate you sharing with us.  I will personally review all submissions.  If we choose to use your story, you will be notified.

To submit your story (copy and pictures), please start HERE

MOAA Life Member named 2016 Soldier of the Year

Capt. Zachariah Fike, a soldier with the Vermont National Guard and a MOAA Life Member, was named the 2016 Soldier of the Year by Army Times. Fike was recognized at a ceremony on Capitol Hill in Washington DC for his work with a nonprofit he founded, Purple Hearts Reunited, which is dedicated to returning valor medals to veterans or their surviving families. Four other service members were also recognized in their respective branches for their contributions to their communities.
